Felipe Picard
Hi there! My name is Felipe Picard, and I study nanotechnology. Ever since I was a kid I have enjoyed creating things. I started out building little cars and boats out of bottles and other kinds of things that woud be thrown away. When I was about 12 years old I began to play a bit with electronics, so now my trash cars and boats had lights and motors! A few years later my grandfather gave me a book called "Making Things Move" and at the end of the book there was a chapter about arduinos! Needless to say, the next upgrade to my mighty vehicles was a "brain" of its own.
One day I was thinking about making a "smartwatch" with lots of features. At the time, my biggest challenge was to figure out which battery I would use to power my invention... All of the typical batteries on the market were either too big or didn't have enough power to keep my watch running for a long time as I wished. A bit of googling later, I came across super-capacitors! Oh my, what a fancy name, I thought! Diving deeper into the subject I discovered something called graphene, a nanomaterial capable of enhancing pretty much anything (this happend in 2016), and my mind was blown. Searching a bit more, I found out there was a course all about nanotechnology in one of my country's best known universities. So... I took the test and the rest is history!
As you might have picked up by now, I am quite the maker, and I believe nanotechnology is the answer for a lot of problems that we haven't solved yet. In virtue of that, I've created this web page to document all my projects and hobbies, and share to the world a bit more about nanotechnology and all its capabilities. Hope you enjoy the content of my site. If you wish to contact me, my email is linked in the left side of this web page, so feel free to do so.
